WBO world junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez and title contender Jemaine Ortiz passed the official weigh-in procedure before the fight.
Both boxers showed the same weight – 139.6 pounds (63.32 kilograms). The boxers entered the limit of the first welterweight category (140 pounds). Let us remind you that the fight for the WBO belt will take place in Las Vegas, America on February 8.
In June, Teofimo announced that he was retiring from his boxing career and relinquishing his championship title. Later, the American changed his mind about leaving boxing and declared his readiness to defend his belt. Lopez managed to challenge the absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney.
Previously, Teofimo rejected the offer of a fight with Ryan Garcia due to the low fee. According to Teofimo, the fight was planned to take place in early 2024.
In his last fight, Lopez defeated Briton Josh Taylor. Following the results of 12 rounds, the judges unanimously awarded the victory to the American – 115:113, 115:113 117:111. Ortiz defeated Mexican Antonio Moran in his last fight.
