James Rodríguez expressed his desire to leave São Paulo after a brief spell; tricolor board should seek termination of contract with the midfielder
The soap opera seems to have come to an end: James Rodríguezdecided to leave the São Paulo. After playing just 14 matches in 2023 and scoring a single goal, the midfielder informed the board of his desire to terminate his contract.
A conversation between the parties took place during the week, in which the Colombian suggested an amicable breakup. James claimed that he was little used by São Paulo and that he would like to be closer to his family.
Rodríguez did not play on the field in the 2024 season and is not even registered with the Paulista championship. Colombia’s number 10 also did not travel with the delegation (by his own choice) to Belo Horizonte towards the decision of the Super Cupeven though other athletes who would not be used in the match attended.
