International Football Federation (FIFA ) considers information about the introduction of a blue card premature, according to the organization’s social network.
Earlier it was announced that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) intends to introduce blue cards, for which players will be punished with a 10-minute suspension. According to The Telegraph, a decision on the blue card test could be taken on Friday February 9. Initially, they will be used in women’s and youth football, as well as the lower divisions.
It should be noted that the referees will show blue cards to players in case of gross tactical violations, as well as in case of disagreement with their decision. For two blue cards or a combination of yellow and blue, the regulations will provide for one red card.
“FIFA would like to clarify that reports of a so-called blue card at the elite level of football are incorrect and premature. Such testing should be limited to responsible testing at lower levels. This is a position that FIFA intends to confirm when this agenda item is discussed at the IFAB general assembly on March 2, FIFA said in a statement.
