Dmitry Kombarov explained what kind of football Spartak-2 will play

The head coach “Spartak‑2 » Dmitri Kombarov in an interview with , he said that the “red and whites” would play aggressive and fast football, use short and medium passes, quickly switch from defense to attack and vice versa.

Kombarov took over as director of the relaunched Spartak-2 on January 19. During winter training camp, the team tied once and lost five times.

— The results of the training camp matches do not inspire optimism, and this is what fans pay attention to first of all.

– I want to calm them down. Everything is going well in the team, we are moving towards the start of the season as planned. We spent the first course under the highest loads, and during the second course the training was also very intensive, hence the lack of lightness in our legs during friendly matches. If I were a footballer today, I wouldn’t look kindly on the coach when faced with such a workload (laughs). It is important that the guys approach official matches physically ready and resilient. I do not exclude that during the season we play a few matches under load.

I repeat, our task is to develop players for the first team, and for this they must train very hard and be ready to meet the highest demands of the Premier League. Guys should not train for an hour and a half a day, but four to five hours, as is the case in big European clubs. We want our players to only think about football, and not about the benefits the sport offers.

— What kind of football will Spartak-2 play?

— My team will play aggressive and fast football, use short and medium passes, we will quickly move from defense to attack and vice versa. We will try to minimize long passes, we want to have a lot of possession, control the flow of the game and dominate on the pitch. It is clear that this will not always work, because very young guys will be involved in the games, who, without Spartak-2, would have to go into adult football for a long time.

— Anything familiar to you from your playing career.

“Yes, both in my career and in Spartak that I saw as a child,” Kombarov told .

Kombarov defended the colors of Spartak from 2010 to 2019, played more than 270 matches and became champion of Russia and winner of the Super Cup as part of the “red and white”.
