The Ukrainian “brought” a goal in the match with Visela, but then saved the penalty and wrote himself into the history of Benfica
Ukrainian goalkeeper Benfica Anatoly Trubin commented on his performance in the match Portuguese Championship against Wiesels (6:1).
“Great win for the team. Mistakes happen and make us stronger when we learn from them. The next step after a mistake is important. Therefore, now the focus is on further work.”
In yesterday’s match against an outsider, Trubin was responsible for the missed goal. At the beginning of the second half, with the score 5:0, he kicked the ball and hit an opposing player with it. As a result, Samuel Essende hit the former Shakhtar player in two attempts.
Anatoly corrected himself in the middle of the half when he pulled in a shot from the 11-meter mark from the same Essende. He became the first goalkeeper in the history of the Lisbon club to save three penalties in one season.
Trubin has played 31 matches for Benfica in all competitions this season, conceding 27 goals. In 11 fights, the Ukrainian kept a clean sheet.
Benfica continues to lead the Portuguese Championship standings, three points ahead of Sporting. At the same time, the Eagles played two more matches.
On February 25, Benfica will play Portimonense. Before this, Trubin’s team will play the return match with Toulouse in the Europa League playoffs.
