German Stieler will referee Marseille and Shakhtar in the second leg of the Europa League playoffs

The meeting will take place in Marseille on Thursday, February 22

Return match between Marseille And Miner in the play-off play-offs Europa League will be judged by a German panel of judges led by Tobias Stieler.

The chief referee will be assisted on the lines by assistants Christian Gittelmann and Mark Borsch. The fourth referee is Martin Petersen. Marco Fritz and Benjamin Brand will be responsible for VAR.

The 42-year-old Stieler refereed five matches in European competition this season, handed out 31 yellow and two red cards, and gave two penalties.

Tobias previously met with Shakhtar twice, both times in the Europa League. In 2016, the Miners under Stieler beat Braga in the group stage (2:0), and exactly a year ago they beat Rennes on penalties in the return match of the playoffs. Shtiler also worked once in European cups in matches involving Dynamo, SC Dnepr-1 and Zarya. In all three cases, the Ukrainian teams lost.

Let us remind you that in the first match, which was hosted by the German Hamburg, Shakhtar and Marseille tied (2:2). The return match will take place in Marseille on Thursday, February 22, at 22:00.
