His teammate Vladimir Ermakov died on the day of the conflict
Ukrainian basketball player Artem Kozachenko died in a hospital in Germany from wounds received during an armed attack.
18-year-old Artem played for the ART Giants youth team from Dusseldorf along with another Ukrainian, 17-year-old Vladimir Ermakov. On the eve of the next game, the players were attacked by armed men in Oberhausen. Local media reported that the cause of the conflict was the nationality of Kozachenko and Ermakov.
Vladimir died on the day of the attack. Artem was in intensive care all this time. However, in the last few days his condition worsened, and doctors were unable to save the Ukrainian.
Both players played in the German U-19 Bundesliga. Ermakov previously played for the Ukrainian U-16 youth team. As part of the blue-yellow team, the player took part in the 2022 European Championship in Bulgaria.
