According to information released by the newspaper “El Confidencial”, Piqué had exchanged messages with Luis Rubialespresident of the organization, which reveal the granting of 40 million euros (by Kosmos, the player’s company) for each edition of the championship organized in the Middle East.
In the terms explained, Kosmos would have received, in commission, 4 million per season. The defender and Rubiales were denounced by the Public Ministry for Combating Corruption on the grounds of corruption between individuals, malfeasance, bribery and unfair administration. The complaint was made this Tuesday, 19, by the president of the National Center for Training of Coaches, Miguel Castellanos.

“Kosmos helps Sela [empresa saudita] and we are paid by Sela and not by RFEF [Federação Espanhola de Futebol]. I don’t know how it works in terms of lawyers and contracts. I understand that it is part of the contract with Sela, but that is handled by our lawyers.”explained the player.
“Kosmos is a company, not me personally. Officially, we received the commission directly from the Government of Saudi Arabia. I do not have any commercial agreement with the Spanish Football Federation. I agree to debate the morality of the act, but in this case, the only illegal thing is the dissemination of the audios. […] I don’t regret it. I think we did a very good job. I believe that nothing that has been done is illegal or morally wrong.”he concluded.
