Dnepr-1 won a minimal victory thanks to a goal from Alexander Fillipov
Head coach Dnepra-1 Yuri Maximov commented on the victory over Obolon in the 19th round match Ukrainian Premier League.
“We understood that the game would be difficult. Obolon controlled the game somewhere, and we watched their match with Chernomorets, where they missed a goal in the last minutes. So we were preparing for a serious meeting.”
“Sarapiy already played in this position for us when Babenko missed the match, so I’m pleased with his performance. This is not the first time.
“Filippov holds the ball well and sometimes plays short. But in the second half we were already playing against the wind, we didn’t have as much strength, so we wanted to play a striker who had speed. However, the football player got lost somewhere and then had to be replaced. We don’t persuade anyone. Every player here gets paid, he has to go out and play.”
“Each team plays for results and the lower the opponent is in the standings, the more difficult it is to play against them. The guys give themselves to the game as if it were their last. They act defensively, and it is difficult to open this defense. It’s always easier to defend yourself than to attack.”
Dnipro won a minimal victory thanks to the only goal of Alexander Fillipov. For the striker, the goal scored against Obolon became the seventh in the current Ukrainian championship.
Dnepr-1 scored 38 points and topped the UPL standings. In the next round on March 8, Maksimov’s team will play at home against Rukh,
