Former coach “Ural” Yuri Matveev expressed hope that the Yekaterinburg club would retain its registration in the RPL at the end of this season.
Ural is in 13th place in the Russian Championship standings with 19 points. In the 19th round the team lost to Akhmat (0:1).
— I really hope that Ural does not risk being relegated from the RPL this season. I believe in the technical staff, they know the situation from the inside. I would like the team to score points and go as high as possible. During the autumn period, Ural played interesting and high-quality matches, but in some places they were unlucky and in others they did not get enough points. Let’s see what happens next. It’s difficult to draw in-depth conclusions from a single match. But last season we managed to improve the situation even though Ural had a very bad start. I hope it works now,” Matveev said on “Championship.”
Viktor Gancharenko’s team will face Zenit at the Yekaterinburg Arena in the 20th round. The meeting will take place on March 9 and start at 2:00 p.m. (Moscow time).
