Next, Moroz’s team will have fights with Switzerland and Slovakia
Ukraine U-17 national team started in the elite round of qualifying European Championship 2024 from victory over peers from Greece – 2:0.
The away match was not easy for Yuri Moroz’s team. At the end of the first half of the game, the opponents did not score any goals.
The second half began for the young Greeks with a sending off – defender Traianos Mokris received a second yellow card. The Ukrainians were able to realize their numerical advantage closer to the end: first Bogdan Redushko from Dynamo Kyiv scored, and soon Dynamo Dresden forward Dmitry Bogdanov converted a penalty.
Let us remind you that in the elite round of the Euro 2024 selection, Ukraine U-17 was placed in the same group with the national teams of Greece, Switzerland and Slovakia. To qualify for the European Championships, the blue-yellows need to either win their group or take second place in it in the hope that it will become a passing group.
The top 15 teams from eight groups will advance to the finals of the tournament. Euro 2024 among U-17 national teams will be held from May 20 to June 5 in Cyprus.
Greece hosts all Group 4 matches. On Saturday, March 9, Moroz’s team will play against Switzerland. Ukraine will play the final match against Slovakia on March 12.
