The UAF Referee Committee has no complaints about Shakhtar’s scandalous goal against Krivbass from the point of view of the rules

At the same time, referees are recommended to “more clearly apply methodological recommendations for managing free kicks”

Arbitrators Committee Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) provided commentary on a number of refereeing decisions made in the matches of the 18th and 19th rounds Ukrainian Premier League.

In particular, the scandalous episode with the second goal was examined Shakhtar at the gate Krivbassa in the fight on March 3. With the score 1:1, the Miners played a free kick without a whistle when their player Alexander Zubkov was lying on the lawn, and several opposing players were near him. The play led to a goal by Dmitry Kryskiv. The match ended with a confident victory for Marino Pusic’s team (5:2).

The official episode commentary from the Arbitrators Committee reads:

“The Shakhtar team players quickly played a free kick and scored a goal against the opposing team. This is not prohibited by the rules of the game, but, on the contrary, is allowed. We draw the attention of the referees to a clearer application of methodological recommendations for managing penalty kicks.”

The match was officiated by on-field referee Nikolai Balakin, and Denis Shurman was in charge of VAR.

Let us remind you that on February 20, Ekaterina Monzul was appointed as the new head of the UAF Arbitrators Committee. According to the president of the organization, Andriy Shevchenko, its main task is “to restore the trust of Ukrainian football in our referees.”

Shakhtar and Krivbass share second and third places in the UPL table, scoring 37 points each. At the same time, the Miners have two games in hand. In the next round, Shakhtar will host Kolos, and Kryvbas will host Obolon.
