Director MFK Metallurg (Zaporozhye) Yuri Zenkin spoke about the situation at the club – in particular, about where it is planned to hold home matches in the spring part of the championship.
“We plan to play our first home matches in Gorishni Plavni. We are grateful to Gornyak-Sport for understanding our situation and support. “We also intend to extend the contract for holding matches in Uman.”
“At the same time, we are working to obtain permission to hold matches in Zaporozhye [на «Славутич-Арене]. We submitted a corresponding application to the Zaporizhzhya OVA.”
“The situation with payment for Alexey Sidorov’s transfer? Everything is fine here. We are grateful to our partners from Metalist 1925 for their cooperation. Thanks to the fact that they fully fulfilled their obligations, we were able to pay off our debts.”
“According to the regulations, we will not be able to pass the club’s certification in the UAF if we do not have a women’s team. Therefore, the fate of the women’s team depends on the situation with the funding and sports results of the men’s team. If MFK Metallurg continues to play in the First League next season, the club will have to maintain a women’s team.”
Let us remember that in February, Metallurg head coach Vladimir Mikitin said the following: “Metalist 1925 has not yet paid for the second part of the tranche for the transfer of Alexei Sidorov, so now there is no way to organize meals for the team, go to training camps, or talk about transfers.”
Earlier it became known that deputies of the Zaporozhye City Council, when adopting the budget for 2024, significantly cut funding for the KP MFC Metallurg. In view of this, the club launched the process of disbanding the second team. In mid-February, Metallurg-2 officially withdrew from the Second League 2023/24.
Also, due to budget cuts, it was announced that at the end of the season the women’s team of the Zaporozhye club would be disbanded.
Metallurg took sixth place in Group B of the First League in the autumn part of the season. In the spring, Mykytin’s team will compete for the right to maintain registration in the division. The base date for the resumption of the season is March 23.
