Athletistic / Football. Goalkeeper coach of the Russian national team Vitaly Kafanov considers Qarabag goalkeeper Andrey Lunev to be the best Russian goalkeeper playing abroad. The mentor shared his opinion on the goalkeeper’s possible playing time during the national team’s training camp in March.
“Lunev is the best Russian goalkeeper playing abroad. But in general, I cannot call him the best Russian goalkeeper, because we cannot compare him with other goalkeepers playing in the RPL. That would just be a comparison incorrect.
Will Andrey be the national team’s number one in March training camp? When all the goalkeepers arrive in Novogorsk, I will first watch them in training and talk to them. Only after that I will decide who will play in which match and how many goalkeepers will be used in the meetings with Serbia and Paraguay,” Kafanov is quoted in Metaratings.ru.
In addition to Andrei Lunev, Krasnodar captain Matvey Safonov, Spartak goalkeeper Alexander Maksimenko and Lokomotiv goalkeeper Ilya Lantratov were called up to the Russian national team for the March matches.
