If the deal cannot be finalized, they will try to sell the Ukrainian in the summer
Ukrainian goalkeeper Real Madrid Andrey Lunin must accept the role of reserve goalkeeper in order to renew his contract with Blancos.
It is reported that the Madrid team is preparing to make an official proposal to Andrey. The new agreement will increase wages and stipulate a guaranteed number of games that the Ukrainian will play per season. At the same time, Lunin will be the reserve goalkeeper, while the first number will remain with the Belgian Thibaut Courtois.
The Ukrainian’s current agreement runs until the end of the 2025 season. If the contract cannot be extended, they will try to sell Lunin in the summer transfer window to exclude the option of leaving for free.
It was previously reported that the Blancos management is determined to keep the Ukrainian in the team. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and head coach Carlo Ancelotti are of the opinion that “Lunin is now the best goalkeeper in La Liga.”
This season, Lunin played 21 matches for Blancos in all competitions. The Ukrainian conceded 17 goals in them and played nine matches to zero.
Real Madrid leads La Liga, five points ahead of Barcelona. Blancos’ next match will host Celta Vigo on March 10.
