Andrey Boryachuk: This is not spring, but ordinary Ukrainian football. In one word – UPL

Metalist 1925 forward – about his team’s first matches in the spring part of the championship

Metalist forward 1925 Andrey Boryachuk shared his opinion about match of the 20th round of the UPL against LNZand also appreciated the start of the second part of the Ukrainian Championship.

U Metalist 1925 suffered a series of defeats in the Ukrainian championship. What was the mood of you and your partners before this match?

“We all wanted to break this unpleasant streak. I think that we were ready physically and psychologically for this fight. It is clear that the LNZ players wanted to score three points. We were losing during the game, but were able to level the score. I think that in terms of dedication, no one has any complaints. Of course, we would like to win at home, but… We need to work more in training.

— Do you think the game is a draw?

– Maybe. But we created more dangerous moments at the opponent’s goal.

— Did the Kharkov team play better in the first half than in the second?

– Yes. Perhaps then we got a little tired. The football turf at the Left Bank stadium is of spring quality. On the sidelines, where the coaches’ benches are, everything has been dug up.

— The result of the fight between Minaj and Metalist 1925 in the last round surprised many…

– Of course, I was surprised. In the match with LNZ we took a penalty for handball by the opponent, and in Uzhgorod the handball of footballer Minai was even more obvious, but there they don’t award penalties. These are questions for the arbitrators.

— In the game with LNZ, were the penalty kicks assigned due to the case by Sergei Zadiran?

“I don’t think there was any reason to give a penalty to us.” The ball first hit Imerekov’s head and bounced off into his hand.

— What thoughts do you have when you look at the UPL standings?

– We need results, victories. We are in 13th place now. We have 10 more matches in the spring, we will analyze our performance in May.

— The calendar shows the beginning of March. Is this still spring football, as they said earlier?

— No, this is ordinary Ukrainian football. In a word – UPL. All teams are approximately the same level, each club can take points from its opponent. It seems to me that now our championship has become more interesting. For the fans, yes, for sure.
