Duilio criticizes Corinthians’ current management and explains Rojas’ departure

Former president of Timão, Duilio Monteiro Alves attributed the departure of the Paraguayan midfielder to the current command of the black and white club

Former president of Corinthians, Duilio Monteiro Alves spoke out for the first time about the debts accumulated during his tenure at the black and white club. In a statement published on a social network, the former leader classified the notes from his mandate as a “wave of fake news”.

Duilio denied some recent news attributed to his management and attacked Augusto Melo, current president of Timão. According to Monteiro Alves, unchecked information was published in the Brazilian press in recent days.

“There is a wave of fake news in the press, with increasingly absurd news, poorly checked and that becomes a smokescreen to cover up the terrible results and decisions of the current administration”, the statement began.

“For this reason, I come to the public to clarify some of them and reestablish the truth. I will not silently accept that the press is manipulated by liars willing to divert attention from what the current administration is doing. Let’s talk more, for the sake of Corinthians”, he added.

The former president of the black and white club gave his version of Augusto Melo’s statement that he would “end perks” at the club. Jovem Pan and Record published that Duilio had “15 to 20 cars” at his disposal.

The former president stated that he had two cars at the presidency’s disposal, as well as six other vehicles, but that they already belonged to Timão before his term in office.

Augusto Melo won the presidential elections for the 2024/25/26 period, marking the change in the political group in charge of Corinthians, led since 2007 by Renovação e Transparência. During the period, Timão was chaired by Andres Sanchez (2007 to 2011), Gobbi Filho (2012 to 2014), Roberto de Andrade (2015 to 2018), Andrés again (2018 to 2020) and Duilio (2021 to 2023).

Departure from Rojas

The troubled termination with Matías Rojas was also addressed. According to him, the Paraguayan midfielder left Parque São Jorge due to a clause included in the negotiations conducted by Augusto Melo’s management.

“Regarding Matías Rojas, who is represented by André Cury, it is clear that he left because the current management failed to comply with an agreement that it made. It’s very simple: if the immediate exit clause existed in 2023, he would have left in 2023. We have all heard the current management claim that Rojas has not received payment ‘since he arrived’”, he said.

“They lie endlessly and fall into their own lies. It is evident that the Augusto Melo management renegotiated the year-end issues with Rojas in January and included a new clause – immediate exit in case of non-payment. That’s why the player walked free and the club couldn’t do anything. It would be important for this administration, which preaches so much about transparency, to show the conditions agreed with Rojas”followed.

“Finally, when there is amateurism and a lack of results, what remains are unfulfilled promises, a cowardly smokescreen and an escape from responsibilities. I cannot accept this silently and I insist that Fiel knows the truth. Let’s talk more for the good of Corinthians”, completed Duilio Monteiro Alves.
