On March 11, it became known that the Spartak management had prepared a shortlist of four coaches with whom negotiations would take place regarding their possible appointment to the club. The red and white camp has definitively decided to part ways with Guillermo Abascal.
Spartak lost to Voronezh Fakel (0:2) last weekend in the match of the 20th round of the Russian Championship in Moscow. For the moment, the red and white occupy sixth place in the RPL ranking with 31 points.
Valery Karpin currently holds the positions of head coach of Rostov and the Russian national team. He led Spartak twice and twice led the team to national championship silver medals.
