The coach of the Ukrainian U-17 national team talks about successful performance in the Euro 2024 qualification

Head coach Ukrainian youth team (U-17) Yuriy Moroz commented on his team’s triumphant elite round of qualification European Championship 2024.

“To be honest, I thought it would be more difficult. After all, we had to perform, as they say, on wheels, and this could have a negative impact on teamwork. Nevertheless, thanks to unity and maximum motivation, the actions of the Ukrainians were quite balanced.”

“I never pay attention to pre-start ratings. Perhaps someone gave preference to the Greeks as the hosts, but we were only determined to win.”

“I only have information that the matches in Patry were attended by scouts from Bundesliga and Premier League clubs. But they followed not only the Ukrainians, but also football players from other teams. I don’t know who they chose.”

“The coach of the Ukrainian youth team, Unai Melgosa, was with us in Greece. His presence undoubtedly became an additional incentive for his players to demonstrate all their skills.”

Let us remind you that the Ukrainian national team with three victories won group 4 of the elite round of the Euro 2024 youth selection. All matches took place in Greece. The blue-and-yellows steamrolled their opponents: first they beat the home team (2:0), and then defeated Switzerland (3:0) and Slovakia (3:0).

Recently, information appeared that Manchester United is showing interest in 16-year-old Metalist defender Kirill Digtyar. It was reported that scouts of the English giants watched the player in matches for the U-17 national team.

Moroz’s team won a direct ticket to Euro 2024 among U-17 teams. The tournament will take place from May 20 to June 5 in Cyprus. 16 teams will take part in the competition.
