Martino: Messi has a strain in the back of his leg, I think he will miss the match with DC United

The Argentine was substituted in the second half of the match with Nashville

Head coach Inter Miami Gerardo “Tata” Martino commented on the striker’s injury Lionel Messi in a match with Nashville in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

“He has a strain in the back of his right leg. We don’t want to take risks. We tried to see if he could hold on a little longer, but it was bothering him… I believe he won’t be available for Saturday’s game against DC United.”

Messi was replaced in the second half of the match with Nashville (3:1). By this point, Lionel had scored a goal and provided an assist.

This year, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner played four matches for the club in all competitions. Lionel scored five goals and provided two assists.

Inter Miami shares the lead in the MLS Eastern Conference with several clubs with seven points. The team of Ukrainian Sergei Krivtsov reached the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Cup. In their next match, Inter Miami will face DC United on March 16.
