The team will play its first “home” match in Uman, but plans to return to Zaporozhye
MFK Metallurg announced that he will continue performing in First League of Ukrainedespite funding problems and the departure of several key players.
The team will play the first nominally “home” match of the spring part of the season with Khust in Uman. Then the management hopes to return and perform in Zaporozhye.
The club announced that the issue with the coaching staff will be resolved in the near future. After the departure of a number of football players, youth football players will receive playing time.
Earlier it became known that deputies of the Zaporozhye City Council, when adopting the budget for 2024, significantly cut funding for the KP MFK Metallurg. In view of this, the club started the process of disbanding the second team. In mid-February, Metallurg-2 officially withdrew from the Second League 2023/24.
Also, due to budget cuts, it was announced that at the end of the season the women’s team of the Zaporozhye club would be disbanded.
Metallurg took sixth place in Group B of the First League in the autumn part of the season. In the spring, Mykytin’s team will compete for the right to maintain registration in the division. The base date for the resumption of the season is March 23.
