The head coaches of Bosnia and Ukraine have already crossed paths on the field. Rebrov beat Milosevic, and one meeting took place in Moscow

The coach of the Ukrainian national team even scored against the team of the current helmsman of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina

21 March Ukrainian national team will play with national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina V semi-final playoff match Euro 2024 qualification. The teams will take to the field of the Bylino Pole stadium in Zenica Savo Milosevic and Sergei Rebrov. At the coaching level, this will be the first duel between two specialists, but when they were football players, Rebrov and Milosevic crossed paths on the field. So far the advantage is on the side of the Ukrainian.

Milosevic, 50, is not yet very well known as a coach, and he has not played hundreds of matches at a high level. But the Serb’s playing career was more than eventful: nine clubs, six countries, almost 500 matches for clubs, more than 100 matches for the national team. It is noteworthy that Milosevic, due to the political situation, had to play for three national teams – Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro and Serbia.

By the way, even after finishing his career as a football player, Milosevic managed to work with three national teams: with Montenegro – as an adviser, with Serbia – as a sports director, now with Bosnia and Herzegovina – as a head coach, having managed to spend four matches at the helm of the team.

When he was a football player, Milosevic crossed paths on the field with the current head coach of the blue-and-yellows, Sergei Rebrov. Moreover, here too – as part of two teams: Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro in matches against the national team of Ukraine. Both matches were friendly. Milosevic’s teams lost in both.

Rebrov and Milosevic first met on the field in May 2002. Then the Ukrainian team was led by Leonid Buryak, who, as part of the team’s preparation for qualifying for Euro 2004, took the blue-yellows to Moscow for a friendly tournament with the participation of the national teams of Yugoslavia, Russia and Belarus. We got to play the Yugoslavs in the semi-finals.

Rebrov and Milosevic started for their respective teams. The forward of the Ukrainian national team was replaced in the 82nd minute, giving way to Maxim Kalinichenko. The forward of the Yugoslav national team played the entire match.

By the time Rebrov was replaced, Ukraine was winning 2:0, thanks to goals from Popov and Musolitin. And so the match ended. In the final, the blue-yellows lost to Belarus. And also 0:2.

The second meeting between Rebrov and Milosevic on the field took place three years later in Kyiv. Ukraine was led by Blokhin and, while preparing the team for selection for the 2006 World Cup, he played with the national team of Serbia and Montenegro in Kyiv as part of the Valery Lobanovsky Memorial. Moreover, in the final (in the 1/2, the blue-yellows beat Israel in a penalty shootout).

True, the confrontation between Rebrov and Milosevic in this case can be called absentee: Milosevic started for his team and was replaced during the break by Kezman, Rebrov remained in the reserve of the blue-yellows, entering the field in the 60th minute, replacing Voronin.

A minute after coming on as a substitute, Rebrov opened the scoring in the match, on the 72nd, Nazarenko, who also appeared on the field in the second half, doubled the blue-yellows’ lead, and Kezman scored a prestige goal for the guests in the 90th minute.

Now Milosevic and Rebrov will meet in new roles. We believe that the trend of confrontation will not be broken on March 21.
