Thibaut Courtois is close to returning to action
Mentor Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti commented on the performance of Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrey Lunin in the match of the 29th round of La Liga with Osasuna (4:2).
“He feels very good. We have found a goalkeeper who gives us confidence, he is very confident.”
“We’ll see when Courtois returns because he has a very serious injury and we need to be careful. It’s the same with Militao: we’re in no rush.”
Let us remind you that Courtois and Militao, who continue to recover from injuries, will take part in Real Madrid’s “closed friendly matches” during the upcoming break for national teams.
Previously, the Blancos coach stated that the Belgian and Brazilian would return to action after the international break, that is, at the end of March – beginning of April. Ancelotti expects the 31-year-old goalkeeper to be at his disposal by April 9 when Real host Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Today Lunin played the entire match against Osasuna. The goalkeeper played 23 matches this season (10 clean sheets, 19 goals conceded).
Real are confidently leading La Liga nine rounds before the end of the season, ahead of Girona and Barcelona. In the next round, Blancos will host Athletic on March 31.
