The head of the UAF thanked the diplomat, and in his person the entire people and government of Japan for helping Ukraine.

“After the full-scale Russian invasion, the Japan Football Association provided direct support to the UAF, allocating $100,000 to help Ukrainian football. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your support!”

“We are also grateful for your help in organizing the friendly match, which will take place on March 25 in Fukuoka. Japan invited the Ukrainian delegation and covered all expenses. And I believe that our countries will strengthen cooperation not only in the field of football,” Shevchenko noted.

Let us remind you that the first sparring partner of the Ukrainian Olympic team as part of the preparation of the blue-yellows for the 2024 Olympic Games will be the Japanese U-23 team. The test match will take place on March 25 in Fukuoka at the Mikuni Kitakyushu Stadium.

Ukraine, under the leadership of Ruslan Rotan, made it to the Olympics for the first time in history. Our team became one of 16 participants in the Olympic football tournament, the draw for which will take place in Paris on March 20.

The football tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games will take place from July 24 to August 9. It will be hosted by Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Nice and Nantes. The current Olympic champion is the Brazilian team, which this time failed to qualify for the final tournament.

According to the regulations, football players born no earlier than January 1, 2001 will be able to play for the national team at the Olympic Games in France. Three older players can also be included in the application.
