The coach is pleased with his team’s performance in the last round of the UPL
Acting head coach Veres Oleg Shandruk commented on the victory over Chernomorets (1:0) in the match of the 21st round of the UPL.
“It’s a difficult match for us. The game was also affected by an hour-long break due to an air raid signal. Getting ready to play again after this is not easy. That’s why we didn’t have a good start about twenty minutes after the break.”
“In my opinion, we were under-prepared. We were not ready for the second half. This is also a difficult stage for us. We will talk about this with the team more than once like a man. Then we pressed well and created good chances. We tried to avoid a nervous ending. I’m pleased with the number of chances created, but we still don’t score enough. Probably, it is in games like this that the guys should gain self-confidence.”
“Vitaly Dakhnovsky and Iago Siqueira, who did not play against Dynamo, returned to the game. But we couldn’t count on Julio Cesar and Evgeny Shevchenko. They entrusted a place on the field to those who were better prepared. As for the choice of Evgeniy Pasta, we now have two equal goalkeepers. Today we trusted him and Evgeniy did not let us down.”
“Winning brings positivity. But we agreed not to look at the standings. We need to win every game. We’ll look at the standings at the end of the championship.”
Veres, thanks to the victory over the Sailors, rose to 14th place, with 16 points in his asset. The Rivne club is ahead of Metalist 1925 in terms of additional indicators.
In the next round, Veres will host Krivbass. The match is scheduled for March 30.
