Captain Argentina national team Lionel Messi will not participate in the national team’s friendly matches in March, the national team’s press service reports.
The 36-year-old will miss the upcoming matches against El Salvador and Costa Rica due to injury.
“Team captain Lionel Messi will be unable to participate in friendly matches in the United States due to a slight hamstring injury in his right leg, received during a match for Inter Miami,” the report says.
The Argentina national team will play two friendly matches in the United States. On March 22, the team will play against El Salvador and on March 26 against Costa Rica.
Messi has scored five goals and two assists in five matches this season.
