Nottingham Forest is punished and loses points in the Premier League

The decision was announced this Monday, 18th, after an evaluation by an independent commission from the English league.

The Nottingham Forest investigation was referred more than two months ago, in early January, to an independent English league commission. Thus, the club admitted that it had violated the limit of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, of 61 million pounds, for a value of 34.5 million pounds, around R$219.4 million more.

Therefore, the case of the English team has been evaluated since January 15th and, this Monday, the 18th, a four-point punishment was determined for Nottingham Forest. The decision was taken after two days of hearing, which were held this March, in which the Premier League allowed the club to take its position.

With the punishment determined, Nottingham, which was in 17th place, with 25 points, had its score reduced to 21 and was in 18th place, further complicating the team’s situation, which is fighting to remain in the elite of English football.

This was the second case of punishment with loss of points this season, the first had happened to the Everton. At the time, the Liverpool club was also punished for violating the organization’s sustainability rules and had a 10-point reduction in the Premier League table, which after a hearing was corrected to six points.
