Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi said he had never racially insulted anyone.
On Monday, the Italian Football Federation announced that Inter defender Acerbi had left the national team due to racist insults against Napoli footballer Joao Jesus.
“I have never uttered racist remarks.” Now I’m going to say, to hell with racism. Racist language has never come out of my mouth, that’s for sure. I’m very calm. “I’m sorry I had to leave the team,” journalist Nicolo Skira quoted Acerbi as saying on the social network.
The Italian national team will play friendly matches in the United States against the national teams of Venezuela (March 21) and Ecuador (March 24).
