According to CEO Gornyakov, fair compensation for the player would be at least 20-30% of resale
CEO Shakhtar Sergei Palkin spoke in detail about the situation with Manor Solomondifficulties in negotiations with Tottenham and the willingness of the Donetsk club to go to court to achieve justice.
“We have been diligently negotiating with Tottenham since October. But ultimately Tottenham did not operate in a manner that reflected the principles of fairness and equality. In this situation we feel a sense of disrespect from Tottenham.”
“They offered something [10% от любой комиссии за продажу], but this is not even serious. It’s like a packet of peanuts to show that they are willing to give something, but it doesn’t compare to what they received.”
“A club like Tottenham cannot behave like this. This is a top club, famous all over the world, and it’s very strange to behave the way they do.”
“We negotiated with them for many months, we respected them and did not ask, to be honest, for some huge amount. We didn’t even ask for money. We said, “Okay, give us a commission on future sales.” For me, a fair value would be 20, 30 percent. In this situation, this would be a fair value.”
“We are going to take legal action against Spurs if necessary. But, in any case, I turn to the chairman of Spurs because I believe that he will lend a helping hand and support us.”
“We will go to court and do everything possible to get some compensation because we invest a lot of money in the players and this situation is impossible. We need to share our problems and get help from clubs. If FIFA and ECA [Ассоциация европейских футбольных клубов] they say that we are one football family, we should be a family, not like this.”
Let us remember that last summer Solomon moved to Tottenham as a free agent, signing an agreement until 2028. The football player’s agreement with the Ukrainian club expired on December 31, 2023. FIFA issued permission for early termination of the contract due to the war in Ukraine.
The clubs tried to come to an agreement regarding the situation with Solomon even during the organization of a charity match in support of the people of Ukraine, which took place in London on August 6.
Later, information appeared that the Donetsk club appealed to the European Court of Human Rights regarding compensation for the transfers of two foreign players – Solomon to Tottenham and Tete to Galatasaray.
In October, Sergei Palkin confirmed the existence of negotiations and said that he expected an offer from the London side that would suit all parties. In November, Turkish media reported that Spurs and the Miners had allegedly reached an agreement on the situation with Solomon with the direct participation of FIFA.
24-year-old Solomon managed to play six matches for Tottenham this season and give two assists, after which he suffered a meniscus injury and was out of action for a long time.
The Londoners are fifth in the Premier League standings, three points behind Aston Villa and having played a match less.
