Courtois: It’s just a small setback. I’ll be back stronger than ever

The Real Madrid goalkeeper will not play this season due to a new injury.

Goalkeeper Real Madrid Thibaut Courtois disappointed with the new injury he received in today’s training. The Belgian was diagnosed with a torn medial meniscus in his right knee and may need surgery.

“I’m upset about this new injury, but it’s just a minor setback. I will come back stronger than ever. I feel your support,” Courtois said.

Let us remember that Courtois tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee during training in August, after which he underwent surgery. In his absence, the competition for the No. 1 post was won by the Ukrainian Andrei Lunin, who is having a brilliant season in goal for the Blancos.

It was planned that Thibault would be able to return to the field in April, but due to a new injury he will not play this season. The exact timing of the player’s recovery will be determined later.

Real are confidently leading La Liga nine rounds before the end of the season, eight points ahead of Barcelona and ten points ahead of Girona. In the next round, Blancos will host Athletic on March 31.
