Vernidub’s case may be continued again by a Ukrainian specialist
According to information Sports ArenaUkrainian specialists Sergey Kovalets And Alexander Ryabokon are applying for the position of head coach of the Moldavian Sheriff.
55-year-old Kovalets in Ukraine independently coached PFC Lviv, Alexandria, Obolon (twice), Metallurg Z, Chernomorets, Polesie (Stavki) and Ingulets (from the end of 2022 to the summer of 2023). He also worked with the Ukrainian youth team, Lithuanian Trakai and Slovak Tartran.
60-year-old Ryabokon is known for his work with the Chernigov Desna (2008 – 2010, 2012 – 2022). Also headed Borysfen, Obolon, Dynamo Minsk, Dnepr (Cherkasy), PFC Lviv and Sevastopol.
Alexander has essentially been left without a job since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Desna suspended performances in the Ukrainian Championship due to significant damage to the club infrastructure caused by Russian occupiers.
Not long ago, another Ukrainian specialist, Yuri Vernidub, did a great job with Sheriff. Under him, the Tiraspol club had a historic season – it made it to the group stage of the 2021/22 Champions League, where it sensationally beat Shakhtar and Real Madrid.
After Vernidub, Sheriff were coached by Viktor Mikhailov, Stepan Thomas, Roberto Bordin and Roman Pilipchuk, who left the club today, March 19, “for family reasons.
Sheriff, founded in 1997, has won the Moldovan championship 21 times in the 21st century. In the 2023/24 season, the club from Tiraspol won the first round, but drew twice in two matches of the 2024 Championship Group.
