Michel: We trust Tsygankov and were obliged to let him go to the Ukrainian national team

The midfielder is recovering from a knee injury with the Ukrainian national team

Mentor Girona Michel commented on the situation with the injury to the midfielder of the Ukrainian national team Viktor Tsygankov. The coach emphasized that the Ukrainian has full confidence from the Spanish club, coaching staff and club management.

“He is 100% reliable and committed to us, I have no doubt in him. Of course, we will see if he can play for his team, but we were obliged to let him go.”

“A knee sprain is a nasty injury. He tried to work all week to help us against Getafe, but he was still uncomfortable. Now we will see how his knee will progress further, how he will work in the national team. We trust Tsygankov.”

The midfielder suffered a knee injury in the game with Osasuna (2:0). Michel reported that Tsygankov still “experienced discomfort in his knee,” which is why he missed the meeting with Getafe (0:1).

However, Viktor has been with the Ukrainian national team since March 16 and has been training individually. It is not yet known whether Tsygankov will be able to help the Ukrainian national team in the upcoming match with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs. The match will take place on March 21 in the city of Zenica at the Bilino Pole stadium. Starts at 21:45 Kyiv time.

If successful, Ukraine will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation. The final match will be a “home” match for the blue-yellows and will take place on March 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

This season, 26-year-old Tsygankov played 27 matches for Girona in all competitions, scored 6 goals and gave 4 assists. As part of the Ukrainian national team, the midfielder scored 11 goals in 50 matches.
