Malinovsky: We need to take the game into our own hands from the first minutes, act very aggressively and quickly

Ukraine will play with Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow, March 21

Midfielder of the Ukrainian national team Ruslan Malinovsky commented on the upcoming match with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semi-finals of the qualifying playoffs European Championship 2024.

“I finally feel great, because I caught the virus, it was a bit difficult. I feel very good now. We are preparing for the decisive game. Everyone is in a good mood, we had a training session and worked on some things.”

“What are we working on? There are phases of defense and attack, set pieces – we work on these moments. First the standards, because they are very important, after them a lot of goals are scored. In recent games, we have seen opponents concede goals this way. Therefore, we need to focus on this.”

“Penalty practice? I hope there won’t be a post-match series. Everyone must be ready because this is one game and anything can happen. The guys reacted very responsibly to the penalty, they all took high-quality shots.”

“Many players from the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team play in great European clubs. We need to give everything on the field, first of all, be psychologically prepared, because the match will not be easy. We need to take the game into our own hands from the first minutes, act very aggressively, quickly, because the Bosnian team is physically very strong. You need to be ready to fight, because winning it is 50 percent of success.”

“Edin Dzeko has a very high individual level. He can score the ball from half-time and is a very good header in the penalty area. An extremely dangerous football player, so we must pay attention to this. We went to Bosnia to acclimatize and prepare for the game. But I think it’s much better that it will be cooler there, because it’s more pleasant to play in such conditions.”

On March 21, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Ukraine in the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs in the city of Zenica at the Bilino Pole stadium. Starts at 20:45 local time (21:45 Kyiv time). The match will be officiated by a German team of referees led by Felix Zweier.

If successful, Ukraine will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation. The final match will be a “home” match for the blue-yellows and will take place on March 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The final part of Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
