This Tuesday, the 19th, the Osasuna shared an official statement in which he denies that his fans made racist insults against the Brazilian Vinicius Juniorin the match against Real Madrid last Saturday, 17th, at El Sadar Stadium. According to the published note, “no racist chants were uttered” during the game.

“In view of the information published in the media following the statement from Real Madrid Football Club, which links (the stadium) El Sadar with racist behavior, Club Atlético Osasuna wishes to clarify that no racist chant was made in last Saturday’s game ”began the statement from the Spanish club.

The Real Madrid note to which the club refers does not mention racist chants in the stadium, but rather “insults and humiliating shouts” during the duel between the two teams, during the Spanish Championship. Furthermore, the Merengues denounced the referee Martinez Munuera for omitting the fans’ insults against the Brazilian striker. In another section, Osasuna reiterates that “it will demand the immediate rectification of the media that have offered information that does not correspond to the reality of the facts”. Furthermore, Los Rojillos rectify that both the entity and its fans are “against racist behavior”.

“Osasuna and its fans will always stand by any football player who suffers racist insults, which have no place in sport or anywhere else. Therefore, the club wants to show its solidarity with players like Vinicius Junior or Peter Federico González, who weeks ago were the target of execrable, shameful and reprehensible racist attacks.”says Osasuna.

“Taking into account the information published in the media following the statement from Real Madrid Futebol Clube and which links El Sadar with racist behavior, Club Atlético Osasuna would like to clarify that no racist chant was made in last Saturday’s game. Likewise, it will demand the immediate rectification of the media that have offered information that does not correspond to the reality of the facts and will file complaints against those who persist in the fallacy. The club will not tolerate the reputation of Osasuna fans being tarnished, which throughout its history has been known precisely for its anti-racist stance.

Osasuna and its fans will always stand by any football player who suffers racist insults, which have no place in sport or society. Therefore, the club wants to express its solidarity with players like Vinicius Junior or Peter Federico González, who weeks ago were the target of execrable, shameful and reprehensible racist attacks.

Osasuna’s commitment to the fight against racism led them, once again, to join the “LaLigaVS” campaign, which precisely on the last day focused on this problem on the occasion of the World Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Osasuna players took to the field, as did 17 other LaLiga EA Sports clubs, wearing commemorative campaign t-shirts. Real Madrid did not do so, who chose to personalize their own clothing with a motto against racism. Likewise, Osasuna regrets that it was not possible to take a joint photograph of both teams staging the unity of everyone against racism, as was offered by the rojillo team and occurred in all other LaLiga fields.

Furthermore, Osasuna wants to show his rejection of the insults that in no case had racist references and that a minority made last Saturday in El Sadar. The club rejects this type of corners which, unfortunately, its players also have to suffer when visiting other LaLiga stadiums.”
