Daniil Krevsun and Matvey Ponomarenko scored for the blue-yellows
Ukraine U-19 national team confidently beat North Macedonia in the first match of the elite round of selection for European Championship 2024 – 2:0.
The blue-and-yellows managed to open the scoring at the very end of the first half, Daniil Krevsun scored. Almost immediately after the break, Matvey Ponomarenko scored the team’s second goal. Note that North Macedonia finished the match with ten men.
Interestingly, in the second half, the son of UAF head Andrei Shevchenko, Christian, made his debut for the blue-and-yellows, who entered the field in the 79th minute.
The Ukrainian team topped group 7 qualifying with three points. In another match of the first round, teams from Latvia and Switzerland meet.
In the next round, Ukraine will play against Latvia U-19 on March 23. The selection will end with a match with Switzerland on March 26. The winner of the group will advance to the European Championships.
