As part of the elite round qualification for Euro 2024 U19, an interesting event took place for domestic football.
Andrei Shevchenko’s son officially made his debut in the Ukrainian national team. It happened as part of the elite round qualification for Euro 2024 in teams under 19 years old.
In the first round, the team led by Dmitry Mikhailenko met with North Macedonia. In the 78th minute of the match, Christian, the son of the legendary Ukrainian footballer and now UAF President Andrei Shevchenko, entered the field with Mikhail Dubrovny. Note that Shevchenko Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps and also chose the number 7 for himself.

As for the game itself, the Ukrainian team won with a score of 2:0. At the end of the first half, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Daniil Krevsun struck from long range and opened the scoring in the match. And that at the beginning of the second half, Dynamo forward Matvey Ponomarenko scored a goal.
On March 23, the Ukrainian national team will play in the second elite round qualifying match against the Latvian team, which today lost to Switzerland 0:1. Only the winner of the quartet will receive a ticket to the European Championships.
