The experienced forward considers the playoff matches his last chance to play at the European Championships
Attack Bosnia and Herzegovina national team Edin Dzeko spoke about the team’s mood before the match with Ukrainian national team in the qualifying playoffs European Championship 2024.
“When your team gets to the playoff round, it seems like the fastest way to get to the final stage of the tournament. There are chances, although we did not qualify in the best way earlier. The Ukrainian national team is the favorites of the confrontation, but we will show how much we want to win.”
“For us, experienced national team players, this is the last chance to play in such a tournament. It’s not easy, but we have to give 100% in tomorrow’s match. Nowadays every game becomes difficult, since all the teams have learned to play football, you can no longer win easily. We influence what the game will be like tomorrow, everything depends on us. If we win, I think the final match will be even more difficult. We must do everything possible to win.”
“As for the Ukrainian national team, I would not talk much about their strengths and weaknesses. We all know Ukraine well, they have a lot of young and strong players, this is not an easy game. We perform in front of our fans and we must believe in ourselves, believe that we can win. If we don’t believe, then who will believe in us? The chances are always 50/50.”
“This is a historic match. We have never been able to overcome this barrier before, so I want it to work out now. But the opponent will also play with the same desire – to get to the Euro. The task is not easy for us, but it will be difficult for them too.”
On March 21, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Ukraine in the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs in the city of Zenica at the Bilino Pole stadium. Starts at 20:45 local time (21:45 Kyiv time). The match will be officiated by a German team of referees led by Felix Zweier.
If successful, Ukraine will meet the winner of the Israel-Iceland confrontation. The final match will be a “home” match for the blue-yellows and will take place on March 26 in Wroclaw, Poland.
The final part of Euro 2024 will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
