Newcastle defender Botman will be out for 6-9 months with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Newcastle defender Sven Botman next week he will undergo surgery for a cruciate knee ligament injury, according to the English club’s website.

The Dutchman was injured on March 16 during the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City.

– After further examination, a scan confirmed he had suffered a cruciate injury during the City match. It should be returned to service within six to nine months, the press release said.

Botman injured his knee in September 2023, but the 24-year-old defender opted for a non-surgical rehabilitation plan, which saw him return to action in December.

Botman has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
