After remaining in prison for the last 14 months, Daniel Alves obtains provisional release from the Spanish courts; understand
After several requests during the trial, Daniel Alves finally managed to get the Spanish court to accept the request for provisional release made this week by the Brazilian’s defense. He is expected to leave the prison where he has been serving a sentence for 14 months in the next few hours of this Wednesday, 20th.
Despite having been sentenced to four and a half years in prison just a few weeks ago, the court in question decided to let him free while the appeals are judged. For this to happen, Daniel will have to pay 1 million euros, hand over his passport to the authorities and stay 1 km away from the victim, in addition to being incommunicado.

Spanish press outlets reported that the former player promised to stay in Barcelona if he was released under this request. The statement would be that the city is his official place of residence, and he will have to appear in court every week until a new decision is made.
It is worth remembering that both the prosecution and the defense felt dissatisfied with the length of sentence in the first conviction, and appealed the process. While the prosecution is asking for 12 years in prison, the Brazilian’s lawyers believe that the arguments used fail, which makes them ask for a total acquittal.
