In the match between Polesie and Alexandria, a penalty kick should not have been awarded
Committee of Referees of the Ukrainian Football Association commented on the controversial refereeing decisions in the matches of the 20th and 21st rounds UPL.
The committee called the decision to award a penalty in favor of Veresa during stoppage time of the match with Dynamo (1:1). It is noted that the Rivne forward did not break the rules in this episode, after which he received a blow to the leg from a defender. The Committee also noted that the referee on the field initially misjudged the game situation, but rightly awarded a penalty after watching the video replay.
Also, the UAF CA recognized the assignment of a penalty in favor of Polesie in the match with Alexandria (1:2). The visiting defender did not break the rules, and the fall of the home team’s player occurred after a normal game episode. At the same time, the referee in the field chose the correct position, but did not fully see the game moment due to other players. The VAR referee, who had the opportunity to offer a review, remained silent and did not correct the erroneous decision.
Shakhtar leads the UPL, ahead of Krivbass in additional indicators. The Ukrainian championship in the elite division will resume after the matches of national teams.
