The Serbian national team played a friendly match with Russia. The match took place in Moscow and ended in a crushing defeat for the Serbian team (0:4), which played in the minority from the 21st minute.

Let us note that the Serbian team played against the aggressor country with its main squad. Among others, Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, Fenerbahce winger Dusan Tadic, Fulham midfielder Sasha Lukic, and Milan forward Luka Jovic took to the field.

Al-Hilal players Sergei Milinkovic-Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic and Juventus midfielder Filip Kostic also received playing time. Goalkeepers Predrag Rajkovic (Mallorca) and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (Torino) remained on the bench.

Note that Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic missed the match. It was reported that he would not help Serbia in the March international window due to the damage.

In December, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) sent an official letter to FIFA and UEFA and the Football Union of Serbia, asking them to take measures to prevent gestures of support for Russia by involving its teams in international matches.

Let us remind you that Russian football teams and clubs have been suspended from all official international tournaments due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said that representatives of the Russian Federation will be under a UEFA ban until the end of hostilities in Ukraine.

Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 757th day.
