The 24-year-old Austrian scored the fastest goal in the history of national teams during a meeting with the Slovaks. Baumgartner scored the goal for the Slovak national team in the sixth second of the match.
Note that the previous record belonged to German striker Lukasz Podolski. The 2014 world champion needed seven seconds to score in the match against the Ecuadorian team (2013).
Christoph Baumgartner graduated from the Austrian school St. Pölten. He made his professional football debut in Hoffenheim, Germany. In July 2023, he joined RB Leipzig for 25.5 million euros. As part of the Austrian national team, the midfielder played 34 matches and scored 11 goals.
