The decisive qualifying match for Euro 2024 will start at 21:45
Defender Ukrainian national team Vitaly Mykolenko spoke about preparations for the decisive match of the qualifying playoffs European Championship 2024 with the national team Iceland.
“We had a theory about Iceland, we sorted out the opponent, Rebrov gave us instructions on how to play. Icelanders and Bosnians are completely different teams. We are nominally playing at home, so it will be easier than in Bosnia. Somewhere it will be easier, somewhere it will be harder in this match,” the defender said.
“The Icelanders have been playing with the same tactics for many matches in a row, they have been played. If they know how to counter us, then it is very difficult to play against such teams. This match is like a Cup final.”
Earlier, the blue-yellow team’s bid for the decisive playoff match for Euro 2024 became known. The team included winger Viktor Tsygankov, who missed the previous match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ukraine’s nominally “home” match with Iceland will take place in Wroclaw, Poland, on March 26. The meeting starts at 21:45 Kyiv time. The match will be judged by a French team of referees led by Clement Turpin. The winner of the confrontation will advance to the 2024 European Championship, where they will play in Quartet E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
Euro 2024 will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
