Aage Gareide commented on the result of the playoff final for qualifying for Euro 2024 against the Ukrainian national team.

The head coach of the Iceland national team, Åge Gareide, did not make a tragedy of his team’s loss to the Ukrainian national team in the playoff final for qualifying for Euro 2024.

According to the coach, the players, of course, were very disappointed with the result in Wroclaw, but at the same time he reminded that a new team was built today, and there are many young football players in the team.

“It was a good first half. We won 1:0. We had chances at the beginning of the second half to score a second goal. But they scored against us early in the second half. We tried to keep the result it, dropped lower, started playing closer to our goal and missed the second goal, but, in general, it was a good, even match.

Zinchenko came out and had a big influence on the game. This is a very good Arsenal player who changed the team’s game. If we lose to others, it’s even more disappointing. And so they lost in Ukraine – and that’s normal.

The players are very disappointed. Always, after every match, any player loses – and he fails. Everyone wants to win, especially when they play for the national team. But we have to understand that we played against a strong team and keep working,” said coach Suspilne Sport.

We remind you that one day before the final playoff match of the European Championship 2024 selection took place. The Ukrainian team won a strong victory against the Icelandic team and reached the final part of the tournament.

Earlier, the result of the match in Wroclaw was commented by the head coach of Ukraine Sergei Rebrov.
