Head coach of Yaroslavl “Shinnik” Dmitry Cheryshev believes that the Russian Football Union (RFU) will make the right choice by extending the contract with the president of the Russian national team Valery Karpin.
Earlier, the media reported that the RFU plans to extend the contract with Karpin until 2026.
— It would be very good if Valery Karpin continued to work with the Russian team, because he is a Russian specialist. Valera is now constantly building a national team, seeing young and promising guys. I repeat, it is good that a Russian specialist works for the national team, especially since he knows all the players thanks to his work as a coach in the RPL. Extending the contract with him is the right decision,” Cheryshev said in “Championship”.
Karpin took over as head of Rostov at the end of 2017. In July 2021, he was appointed head coach of the national team and left the Rostov-on-Don team in August. In March 2022, Karpin began to combine work in the club and the Russian national team.
