Nicolini: Ukraine could be a dark horse at the European Championships

The specialist paid tribute to Sergei Rebrov’s team

Carlo NicoliniShakhtar coach, commented on the exit Ukrainian national team on European Championship 2024. He noted that the blue-yellows have many talented players.

“Ukraine really wanted to qualify for Euro 2024, also because of everything that is happening in the country outside of football. I think Ukraine could be a dark horse at the European Championships. This is a young team with interesting players. Qualifying for Euro 2024 also gives hope and positive emotions to the country,” Nicolini said.

“Ukraine is a team that can play with different formations. Ukraine has talent and tactics. 7-8 players play abroad, and those who are with me at Shakhtar always get into the Champions League.”

“Rebrov on the bench and Shevchenko at the head of the Football Association bring experience, they bring authority. The level of the team has grown and, again, some players are incredibly talented. They are great professionals, there are important players in every position and 2-3 are phenomenal for me. They also have two very strong goalies.”

The Ukrainian national team beat Iceland in the final of the playoff qualifying for Euro 2024 (2:1). The blue-and-yellows conceded in the first half, but snatched victory thanks to goals from Viktor Tsygankov and Mikhail Mudrik after the break.
