Krasyuk: A lot of work was done to ensure that Berinchyk felt absolutely comfortable when boxing in San Diego against Navarrete

The fight for the vacant WBO lightweight champion belt will take place on May 18

CEO K2 Promotions Alexander Krasyuk spoke about preparation Denis Berinchik (18-0, 9 KOs) for the fight with the Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) for the vacant belt WBO lightweight champion.

“Of course, there are strengths and weaknesses for each of them. But the experience that Berinchyk has, and the character, heart of steel, strong nervous system and fighting Cossack spirit of Denis, which we have seen more than once in all his previous battles and in life, only proves this position to us. Of course, the strongest will win, the one who will be better prepared on May 18 for these 45 minutes. But Denis has been in training camp for a long time, and the amount of work he does allows him to be confident when entering the ring,” Krasyuk said.

“As for the result, we cannot know it in advance, but we understand that there are chances. And not just some ephemeral chances, but absolutely real chances, because Denis and his coach Egor Golub, his team soberly assess the situation. It was a conscious choice, because we had other options – for example, to fight for several belts at once, but the decision was made to follow this path.”

“We have already done a lot of work to ensure that Denis feels absolutely comfortable, as they say, “at ease,” boxing in San Diego against Navarrete. This applies to all areas of boxing life, and officials, and judges, and travel conditions, etc. All this is already provided for in the contract. And now it’s only up to Denis and his team. And now the hard work continues in training camp.”

“Of course, we had many attempts to bring the fights Berinchyk – Navarrete and Usyk – Fury into one card or separate them by dates… We have what we have and we work with it. So, forward to victory.”

“Denis will fight and will receive a fee adequate for the championship fight. We are also planning further fights with his participation and are already negotiating with possible potential opponents for Denis. This doesn’t mean we underestimate Navarrete or look behind his back. However, we are adults who have been in this business for a long time and we know that planning and developing a strategy is not only a very important step, but also the basis for building an athlete’s career.”

The fight between Berinchik and Navarrete will take place on May 18, 2024 in San Diego (USA). It will be hosted by the Pekanga Arena complex. The World Boxing Organization sanctioned this fight at the end of January.

29-year-old Navarrete finished in a draw with Brazilian Robson Conceicao in November 2023 and retained his WBO super featherweight title. If he defeats Berinchik, the Mexican will become world champion in four different weight categories.

The 35-year-old Ukrainian fought his last fight in August against Swede Anthony Yigit. Berinchyk won by unanimous decision and defended the WBO International title, which he has held since 2018.
