“We didn’t give it our all.” Dynamo footballer Makarov talks about ninth place last season

Midfielder of Dynamo Moscow Denis Makarov believes that last season the team’s players did not always show their maximum abilities.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, the “blue and white” took ninth place in the Russian championship. In May, it was announced that Slavisa Jokanovic had resigned as the team’s head coach this season. “Dynamo” directed by Marcel Lička.

“I’ll be honest: this season has been very difficult both emotionally and physically. We have completely failed. The match wasn’t great, but we were still third or fourth before the break, and after the winter break everything went downhill. It seemed like a good season, but the last few games showed that we didn’t deserve to be in the top three. In two games, they dropped to ninth place. At the time our football, to be honest, wasn’t very good. We understood it perfectly, but there was nothing we could do. It’s probably a question of attitude. We are all a team on the ground. Probably somewhere they didn’t give everything, that’s why this happened,” Makarov said as quoted by “Championship”.
