The famous coach and his relatives miraculously remained safe
Famous Ukrainian coach Semyon Altman and his family were injured during another rocket attack that Russian terrorists carried out on the residential infrastructure of Odessa.
A 77-year-old specialist shared the details of the attack he experienced:
“We are all alive, but we suffered greatly. All the windows in my apartment were broken. What can I say… If it doesn’t concern you, then you can treat it with more or less restraint, but when it does, it’s completely different.”
“I was in the room at the time of the impact. It is very difficult to convey what happened after the explosions. First there was one explosion, then a second, after which windows flew, pictures and everything that was hanging on the walls fell. And all this before my eyes. Thank God that neither I nor the children in the neighborhood were harmed.”
For two days after that I was in prostration. Thanks to the football fraternity from among my students, with whom I worked, I was able to sort out the rubble and take out the garbage. Meanwhile, I moved with my daughter to another home.
“I wish the war would end sooner, in which we all suffer from scoundrels, non-humans. As for everything else, we’ll figure it out.”
Altman worked for many years in his native Chernomorets as an assistant to Viktor Prokopenko. Then he independently headed the Odessa club, Donetsk Metallurg, Illichivets, Tavriya. From 2003 to 2006 he was Oleg Blokhin’s assistant in the Ukrainian national team.
In 2019, the experienced specialist played four matches at the head of the Moldova national team. Then he worked on the coaching staff of the Balkans. Currently he is the coach of the Odessa Athletic youth team.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 765th day.
