Benfica with Trubin achieved a difficult victory over Chaves, missing two penalties

Anatoly played a third clean sheet in a row, but the hero of the meeting was his colleague Hugo Souza

Benfica beat on home field with minimal score Chaves in the match of the 27th round of the championship Portugal – 1:0.

The second team in the league hosted the latter, but it wasn’t an easy ride for the giants.

Ukrainian goalkeeper of Benfica Anatoly Trubin played the entire match as usual and, by and large, was bored – the opponent was never able to shoot on target. The match became Anatoly’s 16th clean sheet of the season (and the third in a row) out of 40 in all tournaments.

The hero of the match, despite the defeat, was another goalkeeper – Brazilian Hugo Souza, who took two penalties from the hosts. Both times the 11-meters were brought by Junior Pius. Both times the goalkeeper responded to the ball and became the winner of the duels with Angel Di Maria and Arturo Cabral. The latter didn’t even score twice against Souza, because the referee ordered the second penalty to be taken over.

However, soon after Sousa’s second save, the ball ended up in his goal – Eoau Neves calculatedly closed in Di Maria’s cross from a set piece.

Chaves went forward and created two half-chances – both times the ball went above Trubin’s goal. Benfica could repeatedly increase the score, but limited themselves to a minimal victory.

The Eagles are temporarily in first place, but Sporting have two games in hand, one of which will take place today. Chaves was the last one left.

On April 6, perhaps the decisive battle of the entire season awaits us: Sporting – Benfica.
